~ Selecting Portrait or Landscape Orientation ~

Our picture lights are fitted with different focal-length lenses depending on which orientation you select. Portrait style lights have larger focal lengths to match the additional height of the picture being lit. If your picture is square, please choose the orientation based on the content of the image (e.g. for landscape images pick landscape orientation, for portraits of people or faces, please choose portrait orientation.)

~ Power Supply ~

Mains Standard Power
Most picture lights are powered from a mains electrical circuit. If you have existing lights*, this may be fed to clock-out sockets set into the wall behind the painting, or power may be taken from a switched skirting-board socket. 

All LED lights transform 230VAC mains power down to low voltage. Our mains-operated picture lights achieve this through a dedicated and independent ‘driver’ (transformer) which is supplied pre-wired for quick and easy clip-together connection of all components at time of installation.

Our picture lights can be operated through a current input range from 150mA up to 700mA.  This can be altered for each light by varying the dip-switch settings on its driver – which is sent out pre-set at 200mA.  If this setting is changed, the brightness of the light (Lumen output) and power consumption (Wattage) per LED will also vary up or down accordingly.

If the lights are to be installed on an existing dimmable circuit, and you want your new picture lights to be dimmable, please contact us for further advice. LED technology requires careful alignment between different protocols, and it may be necessary to introduce, for example, up to date switching components to ensure the smooth interface.

*Many existing lights can be upgraded to LED technology using one of our Retrofit Options.  Please call us to discuss the easiest way to make use of this service.
